The Winter Storm

Well, we did it. We went outside. As nice as it is to stay inside and be warm, Kilee could not resist the snow anymore! So far, we've gotten around 3 inches of snow mixed with lots of freezing rain so it's not too great to make snowmen with. They're calling for more wintry mix as the day goes on. We lost power last night for a little while, but the house didn't get too cold. Scott braved the slick roadways and headed to the office today. He said that he had to drive 35 mph on I-64 all the way into Louisville. I decided that Kilee and I would stay put.

Here are a few pictures of our wintry fun!

All bundled up and ready to go.

Checking everything out.

She loved getting snow on her gloves!

Little winter beauty!

She loved to sit in the snow and kept saying, "Sit down, mommy!"

She was really busy with the snow, so the only way to get a picture of the two of us was
to lie down. COLD! I was ready to go inside after that.

Winter Pics

Here are a few pictures from this winter. We can't believe how big Kilee is getting! Hopefully she'll be a big sister soon! We'll be sure to let you know any new news that we have on the adoption. We are still waiting, waiting, waiting!

On Kilee's birthday, we decided to try some 2-year-old hair and gave her pigtails. She LOVES her "piggies!"

Grandpa gave Scott some of his camo Kenergy hats and Kilee was trying one out.

Working the problem . . . just like Daddy. :o)

Helping Daddy put her new table together.

Kilee really enjoys playing "people" all the time. This was one of her Christmas gifts, a Little People castle.

One new thing for 2009 is Mother's Day Out! Kilee is going to a local church every Tuesday to play with other kids and learn how to be in a class. She was SO ready for this and loves to go to "school." This is a picture of her and her backpack before we left for her 1st day! It's nice for me to have 4 whole hours to go to the grocery and clean while she's out of the house. I'm not ready to give up any more days with her, though! :o)

Doesn't she look SO grown up?

We're Still Here!

Hey everybody! We're still here. Just haven't posted in awhile. We've been sick A LOT this winter and I haven't taken many pictures. Fortunately, I think we're over a lot of it finally. Kilee had a great Christmas! It was really neat, too, because she truly seemed more excited about the "baby Jesus" than about Santa, which was encouraging. She loved to take the baby Jesus out of my nativity scenes around the house and carry him around with her other babies! Hilarious. We would see her regular-sized babies lying around the house with a tiny little ceramic baby Jesus tucked in next to them. :o) She makes me smile.

We had a great time with family over Christmas. Lots of good food, fun, too many presents (but great ones -- thank you family!), and laughs. We'll be sure to accumulate pictures from the grandies to post so that we can all share each other's best pictures.

Happy New Year! May 2009 be full of opportunities to glorify God and make him known to others.

Kilee's 2-Year-Old Birthday Celebration

This past week, we had some family friends over and celebrated Kilee's birthday. We didn't do a big party because it is very hard to coordinate so close to Christmas. Kilee didn't know the difference! We had an Elmo theme. Kilee had so much fun playing, opening gifts and eating Elmo cake. We can't believe she's nearly 2! Thank you God for our little Kilee. She is such a precious gift!
Opening presents!

Kilee and Ellie were so tired after all of the party activities and cake that they went back to Kilee's room. We noticed they had been gone for a couple of minutes and we went back and this is what we saw! They were ready to go to sleep -- too cute!

Dress Up and Baby Dolls

Even though she occasionally dons deer-hunting camo (see previous post), Kilee Anne is most certainly all girl. Here lately she has gotten a lot of enjoyment from dressing up and playing "mommy" to her baby dolls. Here are a few pictures of some of these girly moments!

red dress shoes, purple tutu.

She loves that purple tutu!

Coveralls

Kilee has officially transitioned into a deer hunter. Thanks to our dear friends the Melbers, she now has a pair of camo coveralls to wear in the woods with her daddy! Is she not adorable? Thanks, Melbers!

Making Way for Baby

Here lately, we've been talking a lot about the baby that's coming, reading "big sister" books to Kilee and talking about what little babies do. Today, we were arranging the new baby's nursery and putting the new bedding (thanks, mom!) on the crib so we could see it. Kilee was a little curious about what was going on. I told her that the crib was ready for when God gave us the new baby. Then, she said "Up, mommy!" I put her in the crib. The following pictures explain what she did. I can't tell if she wants to be "the baby" again from these pics or if she's just excited about a baby. Either way, these pictures are funny and cute!

The crib is set up really high now. She's kneeling in this picture.

Pretending to be asleep in the crib!

Tucking Pooh in.

She was very careful putting the baby to bed. So cute!

He Has Not Left Us As Orphans

This video was originally posted on Youtube by a 15-year-old. It is set to a powerful song by Avalon that conveys the truth that there are no orphans of God. If you have a relationship with Christ, you are no longer a spiritual orphan seperated from your Heavenly Father. He has adopted you into his family through the blood of His son, Jesus Christ. This video really challenges me. As the church, adopted sons and daughters of God, we are uniquely gifted to share the love of Christ with the orphan. We can share our resources, our hearts and if we are called to adopt, our lives. Would God have you adopt a child in the US or abroad? Would you be willing to sponsor an orphan child in the US or abroad? Pray about how God might use you in the life of an orphan child.

Trick or Treat!

Our little Elmo had a great time tonight! We really enjoyed getting to hang out with our neighbors and all of the little children really enjoyed Kilee's costume. Some of them really thought she was Elmo! Isn't she cute?

Carving the Pumpkin

Hello! Here are some recent pictures and video of us carving the pumpkin together. We had such a great time. Kilee cracked us up -- she was so cute!

Don't worry. She did fall at the end of this video, but she's fine.

Picking "Munkins"

Last weekend, we went to the pumpkin patch to pick our Halloween pumpkin with our wonderful friends the Lawrences and their little girl, Ellie. We had a great time and it was a gorgeous day. Kilee was very excited to be picking a "munkin" as she calls it. It was a great family day!

Trying to touch both pumpkins at once!

I LOVE this picture!

Scouting out the best one . . .

Got it!

A very tired Kilee and me!

Obsessed with Wearing Boots

So Kilee has a new favorite wardrobe item. I found some rubber boots at a consignment sale a couple of months ago so Kilee could splash in puddles when it rains. Since we have had no rain until recently, I have just introduced them to her. Needless to say, Kilee doesn't think that rain or puddles are necessary to make her latest fashion statement. She dons the boots as often as she can get her hands on them! Here are a few pictures of our little fashion diva. :o)

Sly smile

This is darling, I think.

Super cool.

Doing her "v-sit" from gymnastics class! I think she's pretty good!

Kilee Sings

Scott and I were in the living room watching Law & Order after dinner for some much-needed "Thursday night veg-out time", when Kilee decided to sing us some of her newest material. I'm not sure exactly what it is she's singing, but it includes choreography as well! We were cracking up!

Gymnastics Videos!

Here are a couple of videos that Scott took of Kilee during her "Teddie Bear Tumblers" gymnastics class. So incredibly cute, don't you think?
